It is crucial to ensure the safety of doctors and healthcare workers engaged in tackling the coronavirus. Along with the government, various private institutions and organizations are currently distributing protective gear. Since the start of the corona virus outbreak in Bangladesh, Grameen Fabrics and Fashion Ltd., financed by Grameen Telecom, has been manufacturing PPE (gown) for the safety of doctors, nurses and health care workers. Upto today, 25,000 safety gowns have been manufactured, of which the majority has gone to different hospitals and health care institutions of the country.
Imported cloth and seam sealing tape has reached the GFFL factory for the production of an additional 20,000 PPEs for doctors, nurses and health personnel, especially engaged at Intensive Care Units (ICU).The manufacturing of such gowns will start in a few days. In addition, preparations are being taken to prepare and distribute sets that include imported N95 masks, hand gloves, protective goggles, that will be distributed to specific hospitals.
Through financial support from Grameen Telecom, Grameen Fabrics and Fashion Ltd. are set to manufacture 50,000 PPE pieces, of which 25,000 have already been produced and distributed. In the past two days, Grameen Fabrics and Fashion Ltd. has distributed more than 2,000 PPE (gown) to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Memorial KPJ Specialized Hospital & Nursing College, Director General, Nursing & Midwifery Directorate, Centre for Woman and Child Health and Shahid Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College and Hospital, Gazipur.
Furthermore, Grameen Telecom is continuing its distribution of daily food supplies on a weekly basis to identified poor communities in various regions of the country. Grameen Fashion and Fabrics Ltd. will continue to produce of PPE (gown) through financial support of Grameen Telecom.
