A Yunus Social Business for Community Development (YSBCD) Unit was officiated at Centre of Social Innovation (CoSI), Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP), Malaysia.
Nobel Peace Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus visited Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) on 4th September 2016 to officiate Yunus Social Business for Community Development Units (YSBCDU) in the Centre of Social Innovation (CoSI), UTP. Six delegates followed Professor Yunus in the event: Mrs. Nazneen Sultana, Managing Director of Grameen Communications; Mrs. Nurjahan Begum, Managing Director of Grameen Shakti; Mrs. Abida Sultana, Managing Director of Anonna Sheba; Mr. Shazeeb M Khairul Islam, Founder of Social Business Youth Alliance- Global; Mr. MFM Amir Khashru, General Manager of Yunus Centre; and Dr. Syed Abidur Rahman, Academic coordinator of Yunus Center and Senior Lecture in OYA GSB, UUM.
A MoU between Yunus Centre and Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP), Malaysia was signed on Monday 5th September, 2016. The signing ceremony took place in the Pangkor Dialogue event held in 5th – 7th September, 2016, in Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia. The collaboration aims to focus on promoting social business for development of community.
Professor Dr. Ahmad Fadzil bin Mohamad Hani, Deputy Vice Chancellor Research & Innovation Office; Associate Professor Dr. Fawnizu Azmadi bin Hussin, Director of Strategic Alliance Office; Associate Professor Dr. Shahrina binti Md Nordin, Head of Centre of Social Innovation, and Dr. Seyedeh Khadijeh Taghizadeh, Postdoctoral researcher at Centre of Social Innovation, Universiti Teknologi Petronas joined the MoU signing ceremony with Professor Muhammad Yunus, Mr Amir Khashru, and Dr. Syed Abidur Rahman at Pangkor Dialogue in Ipoh, Malaysia.
Universiti Teknologi Petronas is the third university after National University of Malaysia (UKM) and Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) in Malaysia which becomes part of a growing network of Yunus Social Business Centers.
