The 4th review meeting for the unit managers of Grameen Trust’s Nobin Udyokta Program (NUP) was held on January 11-12, 2017 at its Head Office in Dhaka.
Forty Four (44) unit managers from twenty two (22) unit offices attended the review meeting. The meeting was presided over by Mr. Abdul Hai Khan, Managing Director of Grameen Trust. Various important issues related to the promotion and implementation of Nobin Udyokta Program (NUP) were discussed during the review meeting. All Unit- In-Charge gave presentation on their achievement in 2016 and shared their experience and problems.
Special sessions on project proposal preparation, SMS, accounting formats, preparation of closing and other financial statements, software on Nobin Udyokta Program Management System etc. were also held during the meeting.
Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus addressed the meeting on the second day and invited the staff to share their field experiences in implementing this NU program. In response, the unit managers shared their field experiences and challenges they face in the field. Professor Yunus advised them to increase the outreach of female entrepreneurs. He also emphasizes on mentoring the NUs in sending regular SMS which will be beneficial to them to get a clear picture on his/her financial position. According to Professor Yunus, once the NU understands the importance and benefits of maintaining accounts, sending SMS, the NU himself will maintain the accounts and send SMS.
In the evening of January 12, 2017, the Honorable Managing Director of Grameen Trust concluded the session with a hope that each unit will achieve its target with quality which will help GT justify the naming of the Year 2017 -`The Year of Qualitative Development'. He requested the unit managers to ensure the quality of the project, help the NUs in becoming successful entrepreneurs and give special attention to NUs and their projects that are facing problems.
