On May 15, Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus met IOC President Thomas Bach at the International Olympic Committee   (IOC)    head quarters in Lausanne.  Professor Yunus was invited by him to discuss the details of collaboration between Yunus Centre and IOC for mainstreaming social business in the sports world. Thomas Bach shared the thrilling experiences organising the joint march of the South and North Korean teams under the specially designed common flag at the opening ceremony of the PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games. Professor Yunus attended the Winter Olympic at PyeongChang as a personal guest of Thomas Bach. During this meeting Thomas Bach invited Yunus to attend the Youth Summer Games 2018 which will be held at Buenos Aires, Argentina in October this year. Mr Bach also invited him to address the Olympism in Action Forum that will take place at Buenos Aires during the Youth Summer Games.

They both discussed other areas of opportunities for youth engagement and former athletes’ reconversion.

Professor Yunus also met Olivier Mutter who is in charge of Sustainability Policies for the Lausanne 2020 Youth Winter Games. Both discussed the opportunities to organize inclusive and sustainable Youth Games in Lausanne and beyond.

On May 16th, Professor Yunus addressed the SPOT conference about innovation in sport, organized by ThinkSport and Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL).

Professor Yunus was a keynote speaker at a conference of 700 leaders of sport businesses, sport start ups, sport NGOs and sport governing bodies on “How sports can contribute to a world of three zeros”.  In the same afternoon, 30 people joined him at the workshop organized by the EPFL’s Yunus Social Business Centre on how to create a social business in sport.
