YSBC staff at the 2nd International Conference on Healthcare, DGs and Social Business at Kyushu University Japan
Building Asia Pacific YSBC networks:
YSBC Director Professor Gillian Sullivan Mort attended the inauguration of the YSBC at Kaohsiung University, Taiwan and was a judge at their first Design Innovation Competition. She also presented a paper at the 2nd International Conference on Healthcare, DGs and Social Business at Kyushu University Japan, Ito Campus along with attending the Social Business Asia Spring Forum by Yunus & Shiiki Social Business Research Center (SBRC) at Kyushu University.
Building social business/social enterprise skills and growing social businesses:
To achieve this goal the YSBC Director Prof Gillian Sullivan Mort, and Co-Directors Professor Clare D’Souza and Dr Marthin Nanere secured the YSBC La Trobe University as a Registered Provider for the Business Boost – Social Enterprise Program of the Victoria State Government Australia.They developed/ran two programs for the “Business of Community” program in association with Darebin Council, Business Development Office (May) and Greater Shepparton Business Development Office (November). They also formulated a workshop / business plan for Dialogue in the Dark – Melbourne
Developing research capacity and advancing research training:
A doctorate thesis titled “Incubating Young Social Business Entrepreneurs in a Developed Economic Context: An Action Research Approach” has been completed by Mr. Rafiuddin Ahmed, who is also the the COO of the YSBC at La Trobe University.Mr Ahmed has developed a commercial social business start-up “Innokids” which is in the launch phase.
Contributing to the global Yunus network:
YSBC – La Trobe Director also attended the Global Social Business Summit and Social Business Academia Conference, Wolfsburg, Germany, November, 2018 chairing sessions and workshops on social business.
