The 3rd graduation ceremony of Japan Automechanic School was held yesterday 04 May, 2019 at Grameen Bank Auditorium at the Grameen Bank Complex, Dhaka. Professor Muhammad Yunus, Nobel Laureate and Chairman of Japan Automechanic Ltd., presided over the occasion and distributed certificates among graduates. Ms. Kazuko Sumino, President of S K Dream Japan, graced the occasion as Special Guest. The ceremony was also attended by Mr. Tsuneaki Hirao, Managing Director of Japan Automechanic Ltd.,  Nurjahan  Begum, former Managing Director of Grameen Shikkha, Ms. Lamiya Morshed, Chief Executive Officer of the Yunus Centre, and other dignitaries.

The Japan Automechanic School (JAS) was established in 2015 as a joint venture between Grameen Shikkha and S K Dream Japan.  JAS provides two years automechanic training to poor Bangladeshi school-dropout young men in Japanese best practice automechanics and panel beating/painting techniques. The first and second batches finished their courses in December 2016 and December 2017 respectively. The third batch, which just completed their courses received their certificates today. All the graduates became employed with renowned auto maintenance service providers in Bangladesh like Rangs Workshop Ltd. , Multiplan Workshop Ltd., Continental Automobile Ltd. etc.
