The next phase of the Nobin Udyokta Screening Exercise took the Social Business team of Grameen Telecom Trust to Jessore and Thakurgaon. The day long screening exercise in Jessore was held on Tuesday, 29th April 2014 at Jagaroni Chakra Foundation at Jessore Sadar. The exercise included briefing, discussion and break away sessions. Similarly the day long exercise in Thakurgaon was held on Monday, 5th May, 2014 at the complex of a local NGO Eco-Social Development Organization (ESDO).
[NEWS_IMAGE] Seventy Four (74) children of Grameen Bank borrowers from Jessore participated at the workshop, whereas the number of participants in Thakurgaon was 81. Dr. Sharmistha Banerjee, (Head of the Department, Department of Business Management, Calcutta University), also participated in the screening lab held at Thakurgaon as a guest speaker. The events were conducted by the social business team of GTT. This is a part of the Nobin Udyokta program of GTT that scouts young and aspiring entrepreneurs (belonging to families of Grameen Bank borrowers) and supports them in setting up their own ventures by providing various form of assistance. The aim is to turn them in to job creators as opposed to being job seekers.
